Moling is a trenchless technique for laying pipes and involves the use of a pneumatically-driven machine (known as a mole) which forces its way through the soil along the desired path of your pipe.

Usually, a hole is dug which is about 1 m square and 2 m deep. This is small enough to be dug by hand instead of using a machine in less accessible places.

Increasingly advanced, moles have now been developed that are ‘steerable’, allowing the operator to correct the track and achieve curved bores.

Here at DJ Pipeworks we use a grundomat displacement mole powered by a 7-bar air compressor for small excavations carried out at regulated depths of between 750mm-1300mm. The maximum distance between holes can be up to 15 metres per launch pit.

Moling will cause minimum disruption to your property in Aldershot.

DJ Pipeworks regularly uses this technique to replace water mains pipes, along with to lay cables to EV charging stations. If you want more information on this method, our team is always happy to help.

Our leak detection and pipe replacement services are available throughout Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey. Fast, efficient and reliable, we can usually carry out work within the space of one day.
